a pale blue lace shawl held out behind a person. It's a half-circle shawl knit in a starburst mesh pattern with a lace pattern stitch at the bottom edge.

Fire and Light Shawl

This shawl was designed in support of St. Anne's Church - a historic church in Toronto, Canada, that was devastated by a church fire in June 2024. All profits from this shawl will go towards the church restoration fund.

This shawl is a celebration of light and hope triumphing over tragedy. "The light shines in the Darkness, and the Darkness cannot overcome it." (John 1:5) Despite the fire, the community of St. Anne's has come together in hope to continue their ministry and their work to support the Toronto arts community. Inspired loosly by the mosaic motifs on the back wall of the High Altar of the church, this shawl is my attempt to knit a tiny bit of good into the world.
