The convertible Cable Mittens are basically just what they sound like, a set of densely knit mittens done in Aran-weight yarn, designed to stand up to a Canadian winter, but also leave the fingers free for texting, using car keys, or all those other fiddly tasks that are near-impossible in standard mittens!
The mitts are knit from the cuff to the tip, with the mitten flap picked up across the back of the hand. The slipped-stitch palm helps provide warmth, traction, and durability to the mitten; while the cables up the back provide a dash of style to a functional and durable mitten.
The sample is shown in *Knit Picks Muse Hand-Painted in "Rooted." (I get a small commission if you buy your yarn through this link!) If substituting yarn, I'd suggest a worsted/Aran weight wool or wool blend.
This pattern has written instructions, and the stitch pattern is both written and charted.
The Cable Pattern is both written and charted. In addition, this knitting pattern also has an accessible large print option that is compatible with screen-reading software, which includes the written instruction.
